TheArabStreet.Com is a collaborative effort
of Arab journalists and writers around the country. The purpose is to provide
information based on professional journalism, discussion lists engaged in Arab
and Middle East issues debate, and links to the top Arab American and Arab World
news sites.
Each week, TAS features an interview with a
mover and shaker in the Arab Community to help add depth to the understanding of
what Arabs think about issues. We post regular feature interviews with Arabs and
non-Arabs involved in any activity directly or indirectly related to the
interests of Arabs, the Arab World and the issue of Palestine.
We also post news and feature articles written
by other Arab authors about issues related to the Arab community, and we also
post press releases on our free wire service (http://AAMS.blogspot.com)
. We encourage you to send us your press releases for FREE distribution. The
News Wire was set up in direct response to the queries of newspaper editors
around the country that we work with. They regularly monitor the pages for new
and interesting items and also for resources.
This web site is a spin-off of the former Arab
American View print newspaper. You can get more information about the Arab
American View newspaper history at
http://www.hanania.com/aaviewhistory.htm
To help visitors understand the wide breadth of
the discussion and debate, we have tried to identify as many Arab World and Arab
American journalists and writers as possible, providing links, when available,
to their writing archive sites. TheArabStreet.Com neither endorses nor judges
writers of Arab heritage and we adhere to a principle of free speech, tolerance
and respect for all views, including those with which we disagree.
We also provide links to many Internet
Discussion lists. We do not endorse any of the lists, but offer them as a
service. We also offer this warning: discussion lists are generally extremist in
direction and despite moderately assumed name, often do not tolerate free speech
or discussion that strays. Internet lists are moderated and controlled and offer
an "ear" to a slice of the public discussion that exists. They do not by
themselves represent the complete views of a community, and often are at odds
with the majority views.
Still, we hope you find the collection of links
and sites informative, if not at least entertaining.
Thank you for visiting our web page.
