Episode 12/The Lexicon of the Arab-Israel Conflict: Nimat Marie a Muslim woman publishes the book "Mother's Wit" which explores Muslim female perspectives on Islam and Islamic and Arab traditions and culture. (October 7, 2006 broadcast) Episode 11/Media Coverage of the Middle East and War in Lebanon: Reporters without Borders produced the phenomenal collection of essays in "Israel/Palestine: The Black Book." The essays explore issue sof media coverage, lexicon and challenges in covering the accurate story of the conflict. Haaretz reporter Sayed Kashua, an Arab Israeli, writes a novel "Let it be Morning" that explores the challenges facing a Palestinian in Israel who returns to his original village. (Oct. 6, 2006 broadcast) Episode 10/The War in Lebanon: Julia Fisher "A Future for Israel? Christian Arabs share their Stories" which explores the oddity of extremist Arab Christian evangelical views of Israel and the Palestine conflict. The book offers a strongly pro-Israel view of the Palestine Israel conflict with mostly non-Palestinian Christian Arabs. Randa Ghazy's "Dreaming of Palestine," the story of the challenges facing young Palestinians during the first 1948 Arab-Israel war. (Sept. 18, 2006 broadcast) Episode 9/Sept. 11 Aftermath: Fawaz Gerges "Journey of the Jihadist" a book that explores the issue of Jihad in the Arab and Muslim world. (Sept. 11, 2006 broadcast) Episode 8: Steven Salaita "Anti-Arab Racism in the USA: Where it Comes from and What it Means for Politics Today." Salaita, the current president of the Radius of Arab Writers, Inc., and along time writer, explores the complex issues of anti-Arab bias in the post Sept. 11 world in a way that hasn't been explored by previous writings or writers. He explores racist views from legislation to cultural life, and how it is embedded in American "patriotism." This is MUST READ. For more information on ordering and background visit www.PlutoBooks.com. Episode 8: Samih Darwazah, "Building a Global Success." Not everything written by Palestinian Americans is about politics. Some of it also includes stories of their great achievements in American everyday and business life. Darwazah built a billion dollar global company, the Hikma Group, and redefines the fundamentals of business practices in a concise and reasoned manner. Darwazah is the "W. Edwards Deming" of the Middle East, offering insight into the workings of business in Jordan and the entire Middle East. Very informative. This is excellent fiction set in Middle East and prophetic analogies, the story of a young girl who frees herself and her parents from the power of an evil force. Hanan writes about the power of goodness to challenge the power of evil in two previous works, "The Curse of the SLaves" and "The Jewel of Love." Get more information on ordering this book at New Age World Publishing. Episode 8: Irshad Manji, "The Trouble with Islam." A purely politically partisan effort to slander Islam, but exploiting some accurate failings of how Islami is practiced and applied to women, and to use it to undermine the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. Irshad displays a total ignorance of the real issues behind the Palestine-Israel conflict. Instead of offering a moderate and balanced view, she embraces the pro-Israel distortions in order to help sell her book which is a hit in Israel and in the pro-Israel community. It's one way to achieve fame. Episode 7: Amira Haas, "Reporting from Ramallah" -- excellent book on the Palestine-Israel conflict from a very objective and fair Israeli journalist who has taken pains to report accurately on the events. This book is MUST READ for anyone interested in understanding the Middle East conflict. Get info on ordering this book? Episode 7: Neal AbuNab, "The War on Terror and Democracy." This is a collection of insightful columns authored by filmmaker and journalist Neal ABuNab of Dearborn/Detroit Michigan. AbuNab is an award winning journalist and a regular contributor to the award winning Arab newspaper "The Arab American News" published by Osama Siblani.
